Launched in 1953, the 1400 was the first SEAT: a big comfortable high-class saloon car. Its impeccable design was a big hit with Spanish drivers, and so it became an icon of its time.
Launched in 1957, the 600 changed not only the Spanish automotive industry, but also the lives of the Spanish people themselves. It ignited a real passion for a locally produced car,
and helped get the whole country moving.
In 1963 the 1500 ‘aristocratic’ model replaced the 1400 in the luxury segment. SEATs brand new headquarters open in Madrid the year after. In 1965, Several planes were loaded
with different SEAT models and sent to Colombia as the company’s first ‘symbolic’ exportations.
The 70's were a big 10 years for SEAT. In 1973 Production ends for the emblematic 600 model. Two new models are launched: the 132 saloon to replace the 1500 model, and the 1430 Special 1600 model.
Construction on SEAT’s R&D facilities, the SEAT Technical Center in Martorell, begins, with the aim to create, develop and manufacture cars, all done in-house. In 1976, the 3,000,000th SEAT car is produced: it
is a 4-door model of the 127. The 128 model is launched and marketed as "Three Times SEAT", to highlight its sportiness, versatility and design.
In 1984 the SEAT Ibiza achieved a milestone for the company: it kicked off our expansion abroad. With more than five million units sold, it is the
flag bearer of our young and spirited brand across the world. In 1980, the SEAT Panda is launched in 1980 and rapidly becomes the most fashionable
utilitarian car in Spain: its interior is simple and practical and features removable seat covers, making them easy to wash. Its range is
diversified with specific variations and limited editions, and appeals to the youth market segment.
Volkswagen increases its ownership, the Martorell plant opens, and production raches 10 million cars. In 1995 The 10.000.000th produced SEAT (a Toledo)
is driven off the Martorell assembly on September 26th by his Royal Highiness the Prince of Asturias.
The New SEAT Arona has been singled out as Best Product Design 2018 by the prestigious Red Dot Award design competition. This recognition highlights the fresh,
dynamic and robust design offered by the SEAT Arona. Its exterior and interior design and personalisation were the key aspects in selecting the SEAT Arona as
winner of the Best Product Design 2018.
